Whilst known for its peaceful and laid-back atmosphere, there are still a number of traditional festivals, cultural celebrations and events in the Seychelles which are an enjoyable time to plan holidays in Seychelles. Christianity is the major religion of Seychelles, and The Feast of the Assumption of Mary is the major festival. The main celebration of this festival is held in the church at La Digue, the smallest of the three islands, where locals from Praslin and Mahe also converge to offer their gratitude and prayers to the Virgin Mary.
The Creole Festival is celebrated in October every year. This six-day long festival is a salutation to the traditions and the cultural heritage of Seychelles as reflected in its dance, music, cuisine, customs and crafts. The most important cultural event of Seychelles, this colourful and energetic festival is held on the islands of Praslin, La Digue and Mahe.

2011 Seychelles ECO-Healing Marathon
Place: Beau Vallon - Mahe Island (27 Feb 2012)The annual Seychelles eco-healing marathon will take place at Beau Vallon on Mahe Island on the Sunday 27th of February 2010. 06:00 or 07:00 in the morning start.
Carnival International de Victoria
Place: Victoria - Seychelles (2 Mar 2012 - 4 Mar 2012)"The carnival of carnivals" - the second edition - where representatives from the world famous carnivals will be invited to participate. Scheduled for March 2th to 4th, 2012, Plan your Easter holiday now. Be at the right place.

The strong point of this year - "Fete de la Francophonie" event - will be in remembrance of the Haiti earthquake victims.

October in Seychelles sees the most significant and colourful cultural event, the Creole Festival, a week-long yearly event that commemorates the diverse cultural aspects of Creole life, including music, dance, food, art, language, and other traditions.
