Caring for destination
This accommodation provider has taken action to address one or more issues (whether environmental, social or cultural) which will contribute positively to the long term viability of the destination and hence their site displays a Caring for the destination rating.
Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:
Iles Des Palmes is an eco resort, a member of Seychelles Secrets, an exclusive grouping of hotels that offer guests excellent value for money and true unique Seychelles experience.
Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
The old coconut plantation stretching for 15 acres is intact and is part of a larger 175 acre estate. The one-hundred-year-old Calorifer has been converted to an art gallery to allow Seychellois artist, a commercial avenue to express themselves.
The bungalows have all been built out of farmed timber. No old growth tree has been cut to build Iles Des Palmes. The mountain forest in the back ground is preserved at it has been for a thousand years except for one road access that gets you to the other side to Anse La Blague.
The sea wall built by slaves is an amazing stretch of human effort that measures almost 1000 meters and remains intact today, except for a portion that eroded in front of the family bungalows: Colonial Quarters.
In the Pirates Cove, a section for couples, in one area, the beach bungalows are surrounded by huge grey granite boulders, while the other section overlooks the coconut plantation and the red granite boulders of Fond Diable Mountain.
Iles Des Palmes is truly an exceptional nature experience for the traveller coming to Seychelles who is an explorer at heart.
