Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:

Social and cultural

Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:

Located in the northern part of La Digue Island, the accommodation was designed in typical Creole architecture. Hotel l'Ocean has an excellent view of the nearby islands. The hotel's furniture is locally made, with Alexandrian laurel trees and casuarinas woods. On Mondays and Saturdays, the hotel provides its guests entertainment from local artists and on Wednesdays and Saturdays the guests get to enjoy an appetizing Creole buffet.

The establishment is also very charitable towards the community, and because the hotel is built on rocks it does not have facilities for people with disabilities. Local fertilizers and coconut husks are used in the garden instead of using other fertilizers while planting. Hotel L'Ocean uses energy saver bulbs as a way to consume less energy.
